Aunt Doo Doo, Belly Shelf, and Retirement

A couple of weekends ago, I finally got to go and see Landry!!! She is just the cutest little thing, and I wish I could have spent more time with her. I was absolutely amazed at how well she slept....I mean, she slept through anything and everything! But she looked good doing it! :)
While Landry was sleeping, we spent a little time outside enjoying the weather. There was a big old snake out in the spillway, and we all watched as Clay wrangled it and transported it to a neighboring pond.

A cannot believe how big Avery is now. It seems like just a short while ago that she was Landry's size living next door! She did finally recognize me during this trip, and instead of Aunt Doodle, I have been dubbed Aunt Doo Doo. I could've seen that coming.
It was hard to get a good picture in the dark, but I think Mo has mastered the art of simple entertainment. Avery LOVES playing with her shadow, and Mo makes some mean finger puppets on the wall. I have decided to forgo TV trays right now for my belly. I mean, it's just the perfect shelf, and since it normally catches everything that I drip or drop anyway, why not let it serve a useful purpose!


My school team decided to organize a student shower, and it was SO nice and the cutest thing ever. We all met at the end of our hall this past Monday morning, and they ate cake and watched me open presents. I work with some great people!



Now, those of you who know me very well will recognize this gesture. I think I have a picture like this from EVERY shower, EVERY public speech, EVERY event that requires the attention to be on me. This is what is known as the finger swipe, and it serves to wipe the sweat that ALWAYS pops out on my upper lip. Not fun, but I'm beginning to expect and accept it. Ha!

And now to explain that third word in this blog's title. I have officially retired from teaching. My blood pressure had gone up a bit, and Dr. New decided it might be best to keep me off of my feet for the rest of the year. Who am I to question his highly intelligent diagnosis? So....I'm loving life today and working on the nursery. Only about a month to go!!!

Catching Up

Okay....so these first pictures are from a couple of weekends ago. It was BEAUTIFUL here in Dallas, and since we don't have a yard to work in, Adam and I headed to Lowes and got some greenery for our balcony.Adam's mom is a master gardener, and Adam inherited a bit of her green thumb.This is the finished product! I LOVE looking out and seeing more than concrete and bars. The hibiscus is my personal favorite. So happy.
A couple couple weekends ago, Katie and I headed to Paris for one last girl's weekend before the newest Spencer decided to make HER entrance! Mo is 9 months here; I'm 7 1/2 months, and Katie is towards the end of her 6th month. We decided to go out to eat and then hit up WalMart, and I guess 3 pregnant women looks a bit odd cause people definitely felt the need to stare and comment.My belly button is officially out now, and it's low and behold, it's a star inside! My sister calls it a dirt star. Not cool, Janelle. Not cool.
Then, last but not least, my church shower was this past Sunday, and it was wonderful!!! A HUGE thank you to Marilyn Jones for hosting this in her home and to all my wonderful hostesses!!!! I am always humbled by the generosity of so many people! The picture below is of me with Mammas and Pop Pop (Adam's grandparents). Pop Pop made the cradle that we're standing beside, and it is truly unbelievable. I apologize for all the detail photos that follow, but I'm just so proud of it and in awe of his great talent.




Pop Pop carved each of the "feet" of the cradle by hand, and I know it took for e ver. Thank you SO MUCH Pop Pop!! We LOVE it!!!

Hollee and I have to get belly pictures together. Hollee is carrying triplets and is 23 weeks here. She's steadily gaining on me!!! :) I'm doing all I can to keep up.

This is the chaos after we unloaded everything. It is now all packed away and our apartment is spotless (like it ALWAYS is) but I figured a picture of a clean apartment is boring, right? Kind of a funny story..... as I was carrying several of these bags up from the car, my view was a bit obstructed and a parking curb jumped up and grabbed my foot. I proceded to dive superman style (but with my arms tucked in....MUST save the presents!!) into the concrete. Luckily I was carrying soft things and my belly was shielded....not a scratch on me....but a group of about 5 young Indian men happened to be right there and saw the catastrophe and were SO NICE. I was laughing along with my mom and sister, and those men picked up my yard sale and helped without even a snicker. Yes...mom and Janelle made sure I was ok before they laughed too.


And last but not least, we had our 8 month appt. yesterday and everything looks GREAT! Dr. New could see that our little guy has a little hair already, and I think that's so cute!!! So, that's all for now! More to come......someday. :)

Nashville Family Shower, 7 month belly, and Our Nursery so far....

My sister Janelle and I drove to Nashville for Spring Break, and it was WONDERFUL! Basically whenever we go home, it is the ultimate in reeeeelaxation. We catch up on all the movies we've missed for, oh, say the past year or so, eat fantastic food, work out, and....well....that's about it. :0) It's GREAT! This trip, my family got together a shower for me, and it was fun to catch up and see all the cute little guy things they picked out. Thanks, guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Below is part of the shower group, including cousins, babies of cousins (I'm not sure what exactly that makes them to me.....2nd cousin?) aunts, grandmother, sister, and mom. I really appreciated everyone taking the time to come! :) My aunt Ruth gave us this grrrreat pirate book, and Janelle and I felt the accompanying pose was appropriate. I realise that I look mildly...."special"

This was the view today from above my belly. Nice. Very nice.Here is the belly at 29 weeks. Only 11 weeks to go! Woohoo!
This is what we've done in the "nursery" so far.....basically nothing. :) We got our crib about a week ago, and that was very exciting. It was closely followed by the La z boy, which is soooo comfortable. I'm anticipating some middle of the night feedings/sleepings in that thing.

We told these guys they could hang out in the crib for a couple of months while it wasn't being occupied.

Tahoe I

These are some of my favorite scenery pictures!! Hollee and I walked down by the lake and took pictures while Adam and Sam skiid all day. It really was a perfect way to spend a long weekend.

Lake Tahoe!!

I'm sorry about the multiple posts with this, but for some reason, blogger hasn't been letting me upload pictures in the normal way. I had to use Picasa and do 4 at a time. Anyone else having problems? Anyway...on with the post. 2 weekends ago, Sam and Hollee took us to Lake Tahoe for one last pre baby trip, and it was fan stinkin tastic! Hollee used her Southwest connections to make the trip verrrrrry affordable, and we're very thankful!! Here we are in the airport waiting for one of our flights. We're optimistic and awake.......
Here's what we looked like when we arrived in Tahoe at 12:30 am Tahoe time, which was 2:30 am Dallas time. Hollee decided just to park it on the floor while Sam tried to find his missing luggage.

Home Sweet Home!! We had one of the rooms in this cute little cottage. It was perfect!
